Is it Pool or a water garden?

Baton Rouge, LA

For all those less fortunate than me and do not live in South Louisiana, and for those who do. There is what is called a "Tour of Ponds" here that is sponsored by a local nursery. Freindly folks open their gates to all to see what they have greated in their otherwise private backyards. I went on this tour yesturday looking for landscaping ideas. I must say that it really is nice way to spend a day if you are not able to spend it in your ouwn back yard. There was one pond owner on the tour who did a very nice job of combining a pond a putting green a pool and a lake all in one yard. (Alot to take in). But since I am in the process of building a pool and looking for ideas on ways to plant around it. I am wondering if anyone out there has pictures of there fantasic oasis hideaways they would like to share.
The tour I went on continues today, I did'nt have my camera yesterday but I will bring it today and post some photos later.

Hubby and I are thinking about the tour of ponds in our area
next week, but unsure we want to go.

People who have ponds and gardens nice enough to invite the
public in for tours generally have a few dollars to spare, so for
us to go, it ends up being something like window shopping in
Hollywood on a dollar store budget, LOL.

My wife felt the same way before with left the house, infact she was somewhat angry about me making her come. "It was hot, Gas is $3.00 a gal. and the ponds arent all next door to one another, and Lord knows we have got a world of things that need to be done around our own home". But after we visted 3 maybe 4 ponds she confessed that she was glad she came. The home/pond owners were all super nice and inviting. one even put signs by the back door inviting everyone in to tour part of insde the house. Another good Cajun couple had a buffet set up for anyones enjoyment. (Shame was I had just thrown down $16 bucks at Arby's). Also the other people that we met on the tour were just as friendly and I exchanged emails with some for plant trading later. Next year I will probably invite another couple to ride with us, I think that might help the navigator/pilot communication relationship if you know what I mean.

Hi 4004

Just realized you are new to DG. Welcome to our little group that expands the earth.

The Mid South Forum is having the LA roundup next weekend in Monroe. Here is a link if you and your wife would like to join us.
We plan on having a great time. We will swap plants, eat and get to know each other in person. I made the RU in MS in March and it was wonderful. Hope yall can come.

New to the forum but not to DG. (I've been crashing the party for 3-4 yrs. just didnt have the time to chat.) Ever since gas has become more expensive than coffee I've been tring to work out of the house more. Before I stayed on the road all week and in the garden on the weekends.
But I need to run to Kenner (less coffee more gas) now so maybe I catch back up tonight.
