I had a good time and we raised money benefiting Woman's Hospital Cancer Care. I just hope my poor feet make it though tomorrow.

Hey Jeri

My wife and I decided at 2:30 Saturday to make the tour, Sure glad we did! We started at Harbs house and worked our way back to Sherwood and Tigerbend. I had heard so much about the Fantasy Island pond but my fav. of the day was hands down the home in Centurion Place. The Cuban couple there were very nice (every home owner we met was very nice) but they just charmed me. Infact I had to beg him not to start digging up plants to share with me. "I told him I'd be back!" But it was their yard that I want for my own.
We (my wife and I) are or in Lake at White Oak Sub. and are currently building a pool and everything in the yard is either mud, dirt, stone, concrete or trash. Our pond has even found small clumps of dirt and is to cloudy to see the fish. But what makes me sick is that I dug up more than half of the plantings in the yard back in March to make way for the pool construction, so It pains me greatly to be missing the best part of the growing season in my own yard. And knowing that it will be fall before most of the landscape can be returned. The target date for the finish of construction is June 15 so we are in the home stretch. I plan on shopping for Palms today after we finsh the rest of the tour. Maybe I see you out there.

Hi Jeri,
Please share with more info. on the tour. Do keep Jim and I posted of next year event so that we can schedule our visit. Last time I was in La. I was but a young girl. That has been a while. Love to make a trip back, and get to meet you and being part of the "tourists" of the event then.

Kim I had one genleman that was originally from BR but now living in Mobile, Al make the tour and he does landscapes there. I had a wonderful time and would have dearly loved if some of yall could have made it.

4004 I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour but I wish you could have made it to mine. I'm the one on Greenwell Springs Rd. in Central. I was listed under Florida/Greenwell Springs Area. Sherwood Forest dead ends into Greenwell Springs Rd. and I'm the 5 driveway past the 4th redlight going north. We're a little out of the way here. I had a great turn out and hope that we were able to raise alot of money. It was a good cause.

I am sure that it was my loss by not making it by your place Sunday Jeri, We did make it out however, we startred on the otherside of the river, then the LSU area (The pond/yard on Darewiple was inspiring I must say), then the "Cajun waterfall".LOL. We had planned your place to be next but as I'm sure you understand my better half's ankle had had enough so we had to call it quits for the day regreatably. Honestly though we were also excited to get home to see what progress had been made in our pool project. (Looking really nice) I would love the opportuity to visit some time and promise to make yours first on the list next year!

Jeri, your place looks wonderful, does it still after the tour????
Are you missing any plants??
Sandra

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

LOL Sandra I can't find any holes. I did give away plenty though.

Oh I knew you would do that, but there were some big old purses on some of those ladies--lol--
I used to work at Shoneys and we watched a lady fill up a big old handbag from the breakfast bar one day and watched when she left, she had a load of kids in her car.
My sis-in-law works in a grocery store and they watched a woman put 2 steaks, 2 potatoes in her bag. She had to go to court over that one and the store did not pay her for sitting in court all day. She said she was going to run the other way the next time she saw someone stealing.

Yes but I escorted each group down to the pond and tried to watch them. Since I have always finched seeds and cuttings from everywhere I can't say I would blame them. LOL

Sometimes it just seems the natural thing to do when you are a gardener. I have to remind myself it is stealing though---lol
I have all ways shared my things but some people would not give you one seed--lol

I tell my children when we go somewhere that the birds take them and eat them. I'm taking a few and planting them. They still won't walk with me around plants. LOL

My therory is the greatest gift is giving and if you give you shall recieve. Has worked pretty well so for. In my younger days I cut lawns for a living, and found that it was good business to discuss plants with customers who had gardens, and were proud of them.
I didnt have a garden at the time but I became a broker of sorts trading plants between my customers which they really had know idea that I was getting them from other customers. They were happy to give and happier to recieve.
Is it stealing if you take it from the an abandoned lot? I got some passion vine yesterday in Kenner and will probably go back for something a have not identified yet. Looks sort of like a suculant, but 3 ft tall.

Ohhhh Jeri - don't tempt us all.
That really sounds appealing ! You may be having people from all over the U.S. lol.

About 3 1/2 hrs. Depending on how you come you may be able to make a circle.

I have to let hubby on this, he's going to be delighted. Jeri, you'll like my Jim as well. He loves gardening as much as I do. Well, maybe a little less. lol. But above all he's a great person. (Now, I'm not bias one little tinsy bit. lol). Great, we can make it for a one day trip, so I can return home, and won't have to ask a neighbor to water our garden. Or feed our dogs. And, the fish of course.
