I'd like to have a pond with an island, or be able to build one for someone. Not sure if we will have space once we sell, move, and buy again.
But I was curious if anyone has built a large pond for themselves, with an island in the middle.
It could easily be done with a liner.
Anybody done that yet? Know someone?
Anybody built a pond with an island?
Fredrump has a beautiful pond that he built with an island. He planted a palm in it.
You can find a couple of nice pics of it here --

Don't know if that was exactly what you were looking for, but hope it helps.
Saw one done on Groundbreakers on TV. Gorgeous. They made an earthen hump under an enormous liner in the center of a stream and pond combo and then cut a hole in the top of the liner over the hump and peeled it back to reveal the earth. The exposed part of the island was about a foot 1/2 above the water line. The liner was suitably disguised with rocks and plants. In the midle of the island they sighted a Japanese Maple. It was absolutely stunning. And pricey. That was one big momma of an EDPM liner. All one piece, no seams. If I recall correctly they made sure the island drained properly and had it designed with a slight depression in the center to eliminate runoff into the pond.
