Video: One year later + Tip to reduce creekbed evaporation

Beaverton, OR

Posted this in another thread too. Made a video for a water feature I assembled last year. So this is one year later for plant growth.

My online album URLs can change, so here's the short round-about - go to this link first, and find the animated film strip....

http://www.mdvaden.com/water-features.shtml

Then click the paragraph jump link for the page anchor....takes you near a moss rock water feature photo.

Pick the video album link....preferrably the 640 pixel....

Now for the tip_______Creekbed evaporation losses can be cut from 10% to 30% by placing various rocks in the middle of the stream, to protrude above the water line. That reduces the surface area from which water can evaporate. It also can appear more natural.

Your website is the most informative site I have seen and I know you must be proud of it. I have a 9 ft waterfall that falls into a small pond and then into the bigger pond.

Someone worked hard to make that one. I like flat angular stones like that The stone supplier in this town, used the same stone for a waterfall wall inside their showroom. Were you folks able to move the big ones by hand?

Lord No!!! We had a huge crane with canvas harnesses that my DH made and I was holding my breath the entire time the boulders were in the air. We live in La. and our psi stinks so my DH put in a 2'X4' retainer wall of reinforced concrete, then backfilled with clay. We ordered our rocks from a quarry in Tn. DH & I had a disagreement about how a rock should sit and Jim got off the crane and said he quit and to hire someone. So I did. I like the results.(He does too!!)
