It looks like what they call Evergreen Hidrangea, Clerodendron bungei, they say it has a lovely scent. Here is the link; http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/1253/index.html

This is an old fashioned passalong plant, Cashmere Bouquet; clerodendrum bungi. I love the flowers, but it spreads easily and is considered by many to be invasive.

Josephine, funny that plant files show the flowers as fragrant. In the book, 'Passalong Plants' by Steve Bender and Felder Rushing, it's said that the name Cashmere is actually a reference to the kashmere goat, referring to the smell of the leaves. Some old time gardeners refer to this plant as skunk weed. While the odor is a little different, I personally don't find it strong enough to be unpleasant.

Well, everybody looks at things from a different perspective, most people seem to enjoy it though.

I agree, I am one of those that really love this plant. The butterflies do too, BTW. ☺

If you like it, I bet it would grow from cuttings. I've thought about getting one for my patio and growing it in a pot, off the ground, so that it doesn't spread.

Not planting it in the ground is a good idea. Believe me, this plant can take over your whole yard. It spreads by underground runners. It took my neighbor 3 years of constant digging to remove it. I had informed him not to plant it in the ground, but he did not heed the warning. His neighbor had to do the same work because it had spread into his yard. There is yard in another neighborhood that is totally taken ver by it. I keep mine in a large container that sits on another container and then a cement paver. When the plant becomes overgrown, I remove the mother plant and keep an offshoot in the container for the next year. It is a lovely plant, however.

A pretty picture greenie, you need to add it to the PF. If you get starts to share later, I would love to have one. Hope you can come to the swap this year in Arlington.

It's not mine, it's my aunt's. She sent me the pics. She lives in Houston. I'll try and talk her into sending some this way.

Oh, I thought she lived close and you had taken the picture. You can still post it with her permission.

It's why she sent it to me...she wanted to know what it was and knew I had some "peeps with the 4-1-1". =)
