Finally having rain here in the mountains. Almost a month without a drop and now rain glorious rain.
It's Raining!!!!!!
Yahoo! I'd have gone out and run around in it!!
Hope it spreads to the southeast. ;->
Deb
LOL, I did. I felt like a kid again.
Drove back from Orlando Fl. today and it rained all the way home. I'm getting a serious rain down here on the coast, nice. It's been pretty much been a slow steady rain since I've gotten home. Hope it keeps up all night. For that matter the rain can keep going into tomorrow night.
We're not getting it on the coast. We were catching up fast but now no rain for a week.
Just getting far-off views of lightning and distant thunder-bumpers here on Johns Island. No rain. Suspect it will bypass the coast yet again. We need rain!
We had 1-2" here. Friends who live on a large farm 5miles from our house got "0".
The news says Summerville got over an inch of rain last night. Must've been the other side of town! We got 1/4". But I'll take it. :)
Deb
My aunt who lives at the presbyterian home got 3" yesterday, the roads were so flooded the ducks were swimming in the road, where I live, about 3 miles away from my aunt in greenhurst we just got a trace.
I hope today we don't get missed!
X
I got some more rain today finally.
Got a good soak last night and it's raining right now. We may pull out of this drought after all.
My rain guage says we got another 1/4" overnight. A friend across town says they got alot more. It's a lottery!
Deb
Isn't that "Lottery" thing the truth?!! We got 1/10th" here on Johns Island. But my friends over in north Mt. Yuppie got over an inch. It's a real spotty, hit-and-miss system of storms going through. Not what we need!
Hit and miss...cont'd.
Rained cats and dogs in the middle of town this afternoon. Here, we had thunder. :(
Deb
No such luck here. Wish, wish, wish!!!
Bev
We got 7 raindrops yesterday, but 37 today. Maybe things are changing for the better?
Sprinkled just a bit here today .. not enough though.
We haven't had rain for over a month. If you count the 7-37 drops maybe less than a month. There is a big umbrella hanging from the beach to the intra coastal.Conway 1inch Surfside Beach 0.
I love "Mt.Yuppie" I call it Mt.Not so pleasant when I get stuck in traffic.
Downscale: It's raining under my lawn sprinkler at the moment. ;->
I do recall when Mt. Pleasant was a little town along a two lane road. Those were the days.
Deb
:-), A friend calls Mt. Yuppie SC's own Westport (the supreme yuppiedom in CT, Martha used to live there).
I had lunch in the Old Village a week or so ago and it is still lovely there but I noticed several McMansions going up between the charming cottages. It is only a matter of time and a few $.........
A storm is making a lot of noise outside as I write this but we have received only a few dribbles so far.
We got almost 2'' of rain in the last 1/2 hour! Competely undpredicted. Most of it will run off, but it will fill my pond so I can withstand another 2-3 weeks of no rain. This weather is squirrely!
Know Westport fairly well, Ardesia---substitute taught in the Westport school system while doing graduate work. Quite a place! Can defininetly see it as a perfect correllary for latter-day Mt Pleasant! Did find a "favorite restaurant" there though; called the "Three Bears". Ask your friend if she ever heard of it (it was MANY years ago, but I still remember it!).
P.S.: The Westport kids were every bit as difficult and obnoxious as the kids from Father Panik Village in Bridgeport: just in a different way...
Alright! Rain comes to the coast! Ardesia, hope you got some, too?
We got 1/2" late this afternoon. Smiling.
Deb
Aaauurrrgggh. I'm 45 minutes from John's Island (right where you turn off 17 and head south on 21 to Beaufort.) and we got 7 drops of rain. It looked like (from the weather radar) southern Beaufort county got more. I hope.
Glad to hear you all to the north got rain. I'm back to dragging the hose around the yard today. Even the rudbeckia is wilting. Pitiful.
Jenny
LOL we got .02" but everything is so wet this morning it feels like we got much more; must be the humidity.
Glad you finally got some decent moisture Stono.
The rain we got yesterday didn't even register but it was more than 37 drops.
We got an inch or so yesterday and maybe a quarter inch tonight. Nice. Hit or miss at it's best. A few hundred yards difference in whether your getting rain or not.
Alittle bit on Saturday a little bit more on Sunday and a whole lot more today.Yes!
Downscale: So somebody finally moved that umbrella! ;->
It's been coming down all day.
I can almost hear the big sigh of relief from your plants. Bet they are all smiling. :-)))))
BTW, my papaya is growing by leaps and bounds. WooHOo

We must have gotten about 22 of those little tiny drizzle drops today...and all of them fell on my windshield:-((
My DD suggested that we sacrifice her brother to the rain god today lol! If only we could figure out exactly WHO the rain god is;-))))

Nancy.
Oh Wow, do they fruit the first year?
All is well here, hope it's the same for you. Phil has business in Greenville Thursday and guess who the designated driver is? LOL
Hope to get to the Botanical Gardens. Any other good nurseries in Greenville (SC)?
They fruited for me the first year in Florida.Hope it's the same here.I guess it depends on when it starts getting cool.
Have a nice trip to Greenville.
We are going to the hospital in Charleston on Friday.
I was just there Monday for my eye dr'.s appt. we have got to coordinate this better. :-)))
Sending good vibes you way.
Glad everyone has been getting some well needed rain. Here in the mountains we have rain just about everyday or so. It has been really nice to watch the garden finally come into it's own. We have had several severe thunderstorms tough with some small hail with minimal damage to the garden. The grass remains DEAD! I guess its time to till the old under and reseed. Wishing rain for everyone.
