Pitcher Plants

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Just wanted to share this photo with everyone. These plants grow wild in my pasture, coming up in early spring.

Lucky Lucky you.Are there alot of other fields in your area with the pitchers? They are very popular now with big money collectors.Protect them as much as you can. There used to be lots of fields like that in NC but the plants were"collected" Beware.

Thanks for looking! I love my picture plant pasture.

Downscale_babe, No, not many around here. I only know of two others, and not anywhere near this size. I'm very careful with them.

How fortunate you are to have such a special place. Thanks for sharing that photo; it is nice to know there are still fields of pitchers someplace.

I LOVE SARRS! I have a few myself! Have to dig them and store them in the fridge in the fall though. GREAT plants!

Ardesia, I've gotten many hours of enjoyment looking at these little unique wonders of nature. I've transplanted them into moist areas of my home gardens without any problems, and it adds a more tropical look, that really suprised me.

LOL Tommy, Like cannas, bananas, and other rhizomes you guys in colder climates have to dig up every fall....I just don't know how you do it!!! If I lived up North, I would be posting on Daves Garden....FREE RHIZOMES!!!COME DIG!! All you colder zone growers get a thumbs up from me. I've often admired garden growers in colder climates for the love & care they put into growing tropical plants.

Erick, thank you, I've enjoyed sharing this picture. I trade or sell only a few each year to thin out, as they get so thick, almost like a ground cover. My pasture is very much protected, and loved. It's really a very peaceful place to go and relax.

Heck next time you sell some let me know! I'll take a few!
