Can you help?

Hello all!

I have posted this in Beginners Houseplant and Beginners Flowers as well, and some one said that it might be a Philodendron and of the Aroids Family so here I am!

Hello all!
I have three different plants that are looking bad/sad, and I don’t know how to help them, and they are all in the same spot!

Here is the first one.

I have had it 4 years I think! And it has never grown or changed much! I have no clue what it is. It has several, what look to be new growth leaves in the bundle at the top but they never change.

It has never had any flowers. I have had it in shade inside my house and moved it to an east facing window just a couple of weeks ago that gets great morning sun and light all day but no change.

Should it be in a smaller pot?
Should it be wet/moist all the time? Letting it dry out has not helped!
Should I feet it a lot of Miracle Grow?

Thanks everyone for your time and help!

Your plant does look like a philodendron, although I have no idea what variety.

It looks like it may not have been getting enough light, but you said a few weeks ago you moved it to an east window where it gets morning sun and bright light all day, so you should begin to see some improvement. How close is it to the window? It should be fairly close to the window- within 12 inches.

The pot looks way too big. How big is the pot? The pot size should not be more than 1-2 inches wider than the root system. You need to take the plant out of the pot to inspect the root system for rot or other maladies. If the plant is rotting, remove all the old soil and wash off any residual. Cut away any dead or rotten roots. Replant in fresh soil and a clean pot(washed with hot water and bleach to kill any fungus- let it soak in there a while).

Don't fertilize your plant yet. Sick plants should not be fertilized, as it only worsens their condition. Figure out what's going wrong with the plant, fix it and give it some time to recuperate before you feed it.

Thank you so much!

The plant it as close to the windo as I can get it without setting it in the window its self.

I do see a baby new leaf which I know was not there two weeks ago! WOO WOO!! LOL

The pot is probably a 10 inch pot. I can't really tell you, but I will repot it, and look for sickness in the roots!

looks like one of the common self-heading or "birds nest" types. I agree with GH's recommendations... good luck!

Ok thanks! Now that I think about it, I think I put it in that pot because I thought it had one of those bumps that some tropicals have that put off roots and sprouts a new plant!

But I plan to repot it today so we will see! I will let you know!
