Do any herb gardeners here subscribe to a really informative, helpful herbal magazine? I'd like to find one.
Magazines on herb growing
I used to get Herb Companion, loved it. It's a sister magazine to Mother Earth News, I believe.
The Herb Companion without a doubt. I also enjoy Tx Gardener which has herbal info pertinent to Tx.
I subscribe to the Herb Quarterly and am also a member of the Herb Society of America and the International Herb Association. All have great publications with lots of information on growing and using herbs, both medicinally and in cooking. The only gripe I have is that those of us in the desert southwest seem to be forgotten by most gardening magazines.
Momherb ~ a lot of areas have a gardening magazine indigenous to the area or state... Like Tx Gardening they cover a variety of gardening including herbs. Seems your area is large enough there should be some valid magazines out there. Maybe someone else will post.
OK, I've found -
Herbs for Health
Herb Quarterly
Herb Companion
Which one will give me the best information on uses of my herbs?
If you want information on the medicinal use of herbs then the Herbs for Health is the best. The Herb Quarterly has a mix of gardening, cooking, and health. The Herb Companion has had a bit of "fluff" recently but I met the new editor at the HSA conference in Phoenix and she's going to work toward more gardening information. Becoming a member of the HSA is also a good idea. Their website and publications are very good.
