I am hoping we all rise to the occasion of keeping cards going to Diane's home, per her daughter's request. Robyn takes them to the hospital every day. You are free to dmail me for her address. The family chooses not to post her address publicly.
This is the email i received today in an update:
Hey again ladies,
Mom came through 8 hours of surgery yesterday with both surgeons taking thier turn to do what they could. She has two chest tubes right now that will be removed in 2-6 days depending on whether her lung stays inflated like it should. Her pain level is very high as they knew it would be and being controlled fairly well with an IV pump. They aren't giving us alot of hope that she will get back the feeling and control of her legs as the nerve tests did not improve much from before surgery like they had hoped. It will return a little at a time over the next few weeks and we will have to wait and see how much that will be. She will remain in the neuro ICU for 4-6 weeks and then will be transferred to the rehabilitation center. After that only the Lord knows. Tell everyone we thank them for the thoughts and prayers.
With His Love,
Robyn
Gardengram
Gail, Thank you so much for letting me know about Gardengram! I had no idea! I will be putting a card in the mail tomorrow! And, of course I will keep her in my prayers.
Thanks again for getting this info out there to everyone!
I got her card ready and forgot to take it to the post office. It's by my purse, ready to go out tomorrow.
I'm keeping her in my prayers. She's such a sweet lady! Please do keep us up-to-date on what you hear, Gail.
No, I haven't heard anymore.....but we do know that she will be in intensive care for 6-8 weeks and then on to rehab......which can last several months depending on the progress being made. My mom did not respond to the rehab and lived with paralysis the remainder of her life......So I know that cards are never too late for Diane with such hard work ahead of her....
Cards and Prayers will continue! I'm going to try to send her a card every week or two!
