Take a look at the visitor in my garden today. I wasn't sure where to post it so I posted it in Northeast Gardening but wanted you all to see it too since it's so cute :)

Hi Kim. Those are great pics! I love to watch the Hummingbird Moth on its way about the flowers. Thanks for the link.

Thank you all. I thought it was pretty neat!
I have been keeping my eyes open today for him but because it is rainy outside I don't think he'll be by today. Seems to enjoy nice sunny days *lol*

Hi Kim, I live in the mountains of Idaho and I had one of these hummingbird moths around my flower containers for a few days last summer. It was the most remarkable looking little guy. It took my several sightings to finally realize what it was! Wish I would have gotten a picture like you did, it's great. ~Brenda

It was a great day, I had alot of fun with it. I was having a real hard day that day until it came into my path. Luckily I had the camera and the whole day alone *lol*

Can't seem to find anything in the picture. I would guess a Walking Stick bug? *lol*

I'm guessing a lizard right smack in the middle of the picture. I think I see eyes looking out.... My sister that lives on Maui gets geckos in her house on a regular basis and the "kissing" sound they make at night is something else! ~Brenda

You got it Brenda...it's an Anole...or a Chameleon - the gh is full of them...I think they are GREAT!!!

OMG, I see it now....NEAT!

Well after I had a visitor to my flower bed last night I immediately thought of this thread. I'm not growing Hoya's outside so this is a bit off topic : ) but check out my visitor. It was twilight and I took the pic's through the window so look hard....

OK, you can actually see a couple of hoya's in the foreground of this picture : ))) but you can also see our evening visitor at the top of our driveway...

Hey bmedel
Is that a BEAR?!!!!! or am I getting carried away and it's a dog.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I meant to comment on this also but I was at work *lol*
HOW NEAT! The only time I have seen bear was at the Gray Animal Farm. There are bear in Maine but I have never seen one just wandering around.
I have seen wild moose though. Isn't mother nature wonderful?

Yes imadigger it's a bear! Mother nature is grand!! We have moose, deer, elk, and bears among many others right here locally. I've had all but the moose through my yard. I've had some face to faces with moose out in the woods though. Deer are an almost daily occurrence in spring and summer, much to my distress when they munch down my flower beds. Here's a second picture of the bear coming down out of my flower bed after checking out my sprinkler. It was getting dark and I took these through my front window so not the best pics.

Tried to come edit as I added the same picture as above instead of a different one but you can't change the picture.....

How lucky you are to have such amazing visitors. The only visitors we get are armidillos, who dig holes in ground looking for food, and the bunny rabbits, who raid the vegetable garden. I'll never forget the year I went out to pick the brocolli for dinner, and the rabbit enjoyed it all.

What a heavenly setting, bmedel..the trees, the woods...just gorgeous!!! Did you know that more people are killed by Moose than by sharks? I still don't like sharks...

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

I had no idea! That is unreal, I guess the shark incidents are more in the news than the moose incidents. I've been pretty close to a moose, I got behind a big rock (like Volkswagen size rock!) when I saw him coming at me and then just circled it to keep it between him and me and then enjoyed watching him do his thing. He was young and full of it, heading to a watering hole. I would never ever say that about a shark, enjoy watching him do his thing?? Nope, I'll take a moose any day.

Eileen I would get a kick out of seeing an armadillo in person!
