Any one recognize this little Alazea? Its name? I bought the little darling for my hubby's on our anniversary. It's just now in full bloom.
Unknown Azalea "bonsai" from Proflower
This miniture beauty was supposed to bloom in early spring, changes in environment and transit. It's just now blooming. Just got it identified. Satsuki azalea! It's a darling.
That is awesome!
Spencer, thank you. Owe it to you; that reminds me of the proper care of this "flower in a pot" to prepare it to rebloom for me next year. Hopefully I can get it to bloom on time for our annisersary next year. :-)
Edit to say: I'll post picture of this little darling comes spring 2008. :-)

about 8 months to go, can't wait!
Patient. It's forming buds.
How beautiful........
Thanks bugme, I love this one, even though I didn't make it myself, but it serves as an inspiration.
Just thought you might like a link for some useful information on Satsuki Azalea's.

dldbrou, thanks for the helpful link. How did you wisteria turn out this year?
They all survived the transplant into bonsai pots. They have leaves but no blooms. I will be patiently waiting for next years blooms. No one else in my club has attempted to try wisteria, so I feel encouraged that they are all still thriving.
I have been on a hunt to find a satsuki azalea that I can work on. In our area Azalea's are very common, but not satsuki. I have looked on line, but the prices are pretty high and they all seem to be the same picture for starter satsuki's. I recently ordered miniature crepe myrtles and am awaiting their arrival. Have you a good suggestion for a source of starter azalea's?
I've noticed the 'assorted azaleas' that are sold at Wallyworld (in early spring) are remarkably likes that of satsuki. But I could be wrong. Otherwise, I'm unsure of where to find one.

Wow! Very nice job. I am glad it bloomed again for you. :)
Thanks, this type of azaleas is easily adapted to pot culture. I've two mature shrubs azleas in the garden that looks very much like this. I may try to propagate some to experiment with bonsai culture sometimes in the future.
I just now got reminded of this thread. The same litte plant is blooming again currently. Will take some pix tomorrow to share.
dldbru.....Satsukis' are very high priced. There are many varieties that resemble Satsukis that are much more reasonably priced. And you wont feel bad when they dont survive.
