Incubator Questions????
well I checked on Craigs list (someone up here had advertised selling some) but none. None close to you on Ebay, 75 miles away in IL. is the closest. Ideal (I bought some chicks and ducklings for a friend from them) they have some on Eggbid 1 doz barred rocks for $16 plus $9 shipping. I haven't checked there website yet but eggbid is probably cheaper. I am not sure if there are any breeders around you. Have you checked with local farms?
If I can do more research let me know
Now thats a fine incubator Tracey! Im sending you eggs on Monday, hopefully you will get them by Wednesday! Good luck!!! It will be nice to see some of My Grandchicks hatch in Mo.
Did you get your eggs?

them in the incubator asap.. Pics will come..
Eu, NB told me to thank you for him and please email me..

Hi Tracey,
Have you used an incubator before? If not I can give you a couple of helpful hints I learned, and I am sure if you need some help there are plenty of people with lots of hatching knowledge.
Eufaula,
You are so sweet NB likes the way you wright on the eggs he is
so happy about the eggs and is asking me are they here yet and
i said no wed.. LOLOLO He is so happy and he said Maama Eufaula thank you please pick some names for them and we will name them..
Tracey
I'm so happy your getting eggs for your incubator. I wish I had some fertile but my silkies are still not laying since being broody. And I dont have a rooster for my big girls. Grammy Eufaula will be so happy when your chickies incubate. Going to the poulty auction tonight, cant wait, it will be my first time going. I'm hoping to fill up my incubater again. I'll let you know what I come home with tomorrow.
Cathy

Tracey , lets wait a little bit!
Remember the old saying, " Dont Count your chicks 'til they hatch!" , in our case "Lets not name them 'til they Hatch!
Besides it will be a lot more fun to see what they look like first and then we can name them by certain characteristics and funny things they will do! Ooooh it will be so much fun having some of my chickens babies in good ole Missouri!
It will be fun to hatch some chicks from Eatonton ,GA....
When they hatch we will Name them NB said one will Be a BOY
and He wants to name it Nick...LOLOLOLO...
Tiny and Chiann and Tammy are doing every well after the dog
phoo stuff happend they miss their sisters and brothers...I tolded
Them they are having new sisters and brothers....
Their heads turned to me like okay mom..
Tracey
Okay We have a go on your eggs! Let me see! Yep here they are and some extras too!
I did want to tell you that the Araucana eggs are not pure! Granny Annie is a pure bred but her Rooster fella is a Buff Orpington! So the green eggs will not produce Araucanas but Buff Orpington /Araucana mixed Chick...Hmmmmm that is going to be a pretty bird!!!
Eufaula,
Thank you again NB will be so happy and is jumpping around and
said yes,, yes we are in for a treat with baby chicks and Maama
Eufaula thank you for your help. We think they will be great and realy cute.. Buff Orpington / Araucana mix is going to be pretty cute and can't wait to see what it looks like as a chick...
Tracey
When you candle the egg what do you see???
all I see in the silkie egg is all cloudy throw out the egg is it good???
Tracey
Eufaula,
You have D-mail..
Tracey
Yay! Im so glad they made it, Now lets see if they are going to hatch! Fingers all crossed for ya!!!!
Eufaula,, You are so sweet and lets hope they all hatch in 20 days.. To day is day 1 in the incubator... I candled the silkie egg
that was left from Mrs.Barbarty I hope it's okay and hatches in 11
days... All I could see was dark almost throw out the egg and NB
said to the egg hery up and hatch but it will in time..
Tracey
No you can't clean the incubator until they are all hatched. If you clean after each one the bator will be open too much and your temps/humidity will be messed up.
When mine are all done hatching. I rinse it well then fill it with some water and put vinegar in it and let it sit for a while then rinse it all out again.
~Julie
Thanks Julie that helps me out alot..
Tracey
Badseed, HAPPY BIRTHDAY A DAY LATE!!!
Tracey
I don't know about anyone else, but we don't take our plugs out. I don't think so anyway, I'll have to ask DH when he gets home.
Cathy
Cathy,
What did your hubby say about the plugs???
Tracey
I have a similar incubator. According to the instructions you are supposed to take the plugs out when the chicks have hatched so they can dry. Since you only have one right now that will hatch, there isn't a need to pull them, only one chick will be drying (thats what pulling the plugs does, releases the humidity) and you need to keep the humidity in the incubator for the eggs.
Thank you LoraK,
That is what I was asking about ...
D-mail me I have a couple other question about the incubator..
Tracey
If it were me what I would do since it will be a lone chick, once it's moving around well it will be beating up the other eggs wet or not after a couple hours I'd pull it and put it under a brooder light. It will be warm and dry off quickly.
~Julie
After a couple of my silkies started moving the other eggs around, I put a small low cardboard box,I am sure a marjarine container would work for one, line it with papertowels and it (they) shouldn't mess with the others. I think thats the reason I lost two was they got rolled to much the day they were due to hatch.. As my guineas (16 good eggs last count) I am going to put the box in early and as a couple hatch I will place them in the box (quickly as possible). I don't know if it really helps, I just felt bad I lost two.
LoraK and Julie, Thank you for th Ideas and help if I need any thing I will post on here.
Tracey
I did find out why we don't pull the plugs, my DH has a extra incubator he warms up to put the newly hatched chicks in so they don't disturb the other eggies, LOL. I guess you are supposed to pull the plug for drying. But since DH dries in another incubator we have never pulled the plugs. Sorry if I confused you.
Cathy
Cathy do not swet the small stuff.. Its okay...
