Is this a good cat or a bad cat???

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

This morning I found this pretty little guy on one of my vines eating some nice holes. LOL

However, I thought he was really pretty, so I haven't disposed of him yet in case he is something special.

Anyone know what he is?

The pictures aren't the greatest, but he is about an inch long, pretty rust color fuzzies with black tips on the fuzzies.

My butterfly book is terrible. I mean it shows the butterflies but doesn't show the caterpillars. :( Of course, maybe this is a moth???

Anyway, if you can help, I would appreciate it. Also, if he is good, what should I do with him now?

Susan- I'm thinking it's got to be a moth of some kind. We'll have to wait for one of the "all knowing ones" to answer your question!! :)

yellow wooly bear?

If nobody identifies it you could always raise it and let us know. Once you know put it in a thread for photo documentation.

I went ahead and let him go. I took him out to a far place in the wooded area. We have five acres. I put him in a hickory tree and he was exploring when I left. I hope he likes the hickory tree as well as the black eyed susan vine he was eating. LOL If he doesn't there are plenty of other things out there for him I think.

I would still like to figure out what he is. Thanks Sheila, I will check that out.

He looked like a cute little wooly bear caterpillar to me, too! (They turn into moths.)

Or possibly some other Tiger moth. See this link:
