Benign neglect must be a good thing!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I noticed that RainGazer kept saying her plants did better while she was on vacation....so I walked around the house and found some mighty neglected unkept plants that had beautiful blooms.....too busy doing other things to notice...

She didn't have a name or bloom when I bought her .....but her slender leaves fascinated me...love the foliage on plants

I am just sick that I almost threw her out....I did throw another one just like her out....the new leaves were curling badly and I got all uptight about mites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last of the 'not noticed blooms'
She is Ness' Crinkle Blue

****************** How do you know that you are growing too many plants to manage????? When you don't have the time to sit back and notice the blooms.....

Oh I love Crinkle Blue...I killed that one once... ;o)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have 3 of her for some reason...she is the only one that grows normally....I am thinking about sending the others to Snowrose to see if she can figure out how they need to be groomed and grow straight....they are not suckering....they just have a very round leaf that doesn't want to lay down at all.....
glad you like her...she is my very favorite mini along with about 3 more.

Thanks for allowing me to post......

Oh My Goodness ... That No Name Purple Blossom one is to die for! I dearly love that one! Oh, and Ma's Winter Moon!

Gail ... You are becoming a Pro .... but, I think you've been a Pro all along! You need to start your own business and I will be your BESTEST customer! No kidding! You have Wonderful, Healthy, Beautiful Plants. Great Growin! Your hard work really shows in your plants! I wish I had space for more light stands! Maybe I need to start cleaning my house to make some more room. hee hee :)

(Zone 1)

Uh oh .... I better quit looking at your Gorgeous Plants Miss Gail. Now, I am in love with that Ness' 'Crinkle Blue' .... is it really as pretty as that photo?! Wow! Love It!

Lin, Crinkle Blue really is as pretty as Gail's picture. It is simply stunning! I'm a sucker for blue flowers anyway, but that one really takes the cake. I can't imagine one being grown any prettier than yours, Gail!

(Zone 1)

It sure is pretty! God gives us these Beautiful Plants to grow, and some folks just have that "Green Thumb". Gail happens to be one of them ... I think her whole hands are green! She can grow anything! I have a lot of generic house plants that do well for me MOST of the time, but when it comes to Gesneriads, I am just so-so. Gail, it really shows that you put a lot of time and effort and Love into your plants! It is work, and enjoyable work, isn't it? And .... oh, when those babies bloom .... all that hard work pays off!

Keep posting those photo's Gail, brings us all lots of joy!

Only plant lovers can understand that I get in a zone all day working at something I don't call work.....sometimes I turn praise music on the speakers throughout the house turned down low and work away.

Seriously, my family here in Taft (not my own children as they grew up with me doing the same things) thinks I stay in isolation too much. They actually 'worry' about me being so content at home with the plants. My kids know that when i am with people, i really do have fun!!!

I simply cannot 'not play with plants'.......call it what they want....I am a happy camper...

Remember that I get just as big a kick out of your patio and house plants!!!
Right now my front porch is a disaster....if i ever really get it clean and in order, I will post that one day, Lin....just for you!!!

(Zone 1)

I look forward to it Gail .... my back deck is a disaster too .... I've been dividing and repotting again! I have two trades going out tomorrow morning so I have a mess out there where I was using the hose to wash the soil off before I wrapped everything! But, I am so much like you ... it is work, but it's a joyous work! I too .... cannot NOT play with plants!

I sometimes listen to my Country Music CD's on my headphones when "playing" and then sometimes I just sit out there in the midst of all the plants and meditate and Pray. I just bought a little garden sign when we were on vacation that says: "The Best Place to Find God is In The Garden". I might just have to buy some CD's of Praise Music, which I love too, and listen to that while I'm out there!

The folks who think you are in isolation obviously don't understand. We are NEVER isolated when we are near to God, and we are near to God when we are gardening and tending to His plants.

Oh, Lin......don't go buy any music.....I have almost 1000 iTunes of Praise music along with Josh Groban and others....I am allowed to make copies since I paid for them.....just not commerical use....please don't go buy CD's.....

Give me a couple or three weeks and i love to make CD's of my favorite music.....i will throw in a little of Rascal Flatts and some other good country artists....

Good!! Now I have a new project to look forward to....we have the best group of musicians who play at Sunday night contemporary service....they put out a CD...I have two of them....

(Zone 1)

ooooh ... I love Josh Groban & Rascal Flatts too! You are just so Sweet! I am Proud to call you a Friend!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

This is going to be fun....I just take a little Allison Krauss, mix them all up on a CD and enjoy music on the porch or in the house all day.....beats TV anyway...except for my two favorite TV shows.....that would be 'Exteme Home Makeover', 'American Idol' and any sports anywhere!!!!!

Lindenhurst, NY

They are all looking great. And neglected, wow! I'll have to try that on some of mine.
I love that Ness' crinkle blue and the purple noid with the white edge is really beautiful.
