Butterfly Bushes

Ely, NV

Just retired. This is first year of thoughful gardening. Am in zone 3,4,5,6 who knows?
Temps low 100s to 20 below. Bought four bushes from Cottage Farms. Do they need special care other than ordinary planting and what kind of fertilizer? What's a good location?

Retirement.....ahhh...only have a year to go myself!

Best thing to do first is to find out the type BB you have and see what others have to say on the PF link. You can find out a lot about how something acts in your area from the comments.

If you know what you have it will be easier to get someone to share their experience with that plant.

It appears that one of the butterfly bushes is a Budaleia Pink Delight. I live in northeastern Nevada at 5400 altitude.

Snuffy- Have you used Dave's website much? You need to "explore" so that you can learn...I haven't seen all of it yet, myself. Do you know what zone you are? Do you know how to research plants on this site? You would go to the Plantfiles link above and then click on the green button that says "search for specific plants" and then you can enter your plant name. I did all that for you....just click on the link below. I hope that helps....

Oh! As far as fertilizer goes...I use anything thats slow release. Osmacote I think, and I have to reapply every 4 months.

Snuffy,
Here's a link to find out your zone...if you aren't sure. :)
