Hi, I just found these on my Fennel plant. I can't find it in the Bug files. Can anyone tell me what these are?
Thanks,
Karen
What kind of cat is this?
swallowtail. They LOVE fennel
Hope you have more to feed them!
Those are Swallowtail cats have you seen the orange horns they get when they are disturbed?
whatever you do, don't let them get any of the stinky stuff they dribble, when they get mad! Does that stuff stink!!
Here it is in Bug Files:

Oh...you're going to have such pretty butterflies! They love dill and parsley too. So, if they eat up all the fennel, give them some more food! Good luck! I have one ST baby fixing to pupate and one already in chrysalis. I also have about 13 monarch's already in chrysalis....released two BF's yesterday. It's exciting!
Thank you. I knew I had seen these before but couldn't remember what they were. I have plenty of parsley near this fennel so they should have plenty to eat. I believe in letting nature have her way so I will see how they do in my almost wild back yard.
My passion flower vine is almost completely eaten by the GFs. I am going to have a major butterfly back yard. I can't wait.
Somehow, I can't find dill plants in Dallas - any suggestions?
Thanks,
Karen
I'd certainly be happy to send you some seeds! Send me a dmail with your addy.
The GF's do the same to my passie's too. I have a huge, beautiful passie on my trellis by the front door and they devoured it last year so...I got a plan. LOL. I planted 4 in my back yard! When I see them out front, I'll move em to the back and they can eat to their little hearts content.
lol knolan...I love that idea! I need to do that as well.... :)

I would love some seeds. I will send you a dmail.
So...I just move some of the little buggers to all the volunteer vines cropping up in my little garden? Sounds like a great idea.
Karen
Yup! Just move the little guys to the plants you don't mind as their buffet. LOL. Every day now for the last week or two, I'm seeing the GF's laying their eggs out back but not out front. Almost as if they know that the front is not for them. Wish that was the case but it is kind of weird that they're not laying the eggs out front. I don't know their migration pattern but my back yard is southwest. Maybe it's what they hit first.
