Leaf turned yellow, why?

West Orange, NJ(Zone 6a)

One leaf of my plumie turned yellow and black, then fell off. Why? I moved it outside a couple of weeks ago, have it mostly in sun on the patio, water it a few times a week. Should I put it in a spot where it'll be in full sun?

Beverly, was it a bottom leaf? It is normal to get a yellow leaf here and there. There is normal leaf shed, which occurs from the bottom leaves, and there is the occasional yellow leaf due to cold or temperature change or not enough water or some other stress. It is normal and nothing to worry about. Is this your DSP? I actually have mine in part shade because I think it does better in part shade here. Make sure you are watering adequately when the soil looks dry.

Topmost leaf and yes, it's the DSP. Trying to keep it watered adequately. Did have a couple of cooler than normal days last week, this week above normal temps. You might need part-shade in SoCal, might I need full sun in Northern NJ?

Here in Hot Houston plumerias love hot hot hot and sun sun sun w/twice daily watering and lots of fertilizer - lots, lots and lots.

Give it SUN for sure.
And the occasional leaf drop is to be expected especially with temperature changes.

The yellow leaf was probably due to the temporary drop in temps.

Yes, all my plumerias are in full sun, but my DSP seem to get a little leaf burn in full sun. They are the only ones to do this, and so I keep them in mostly sun (five hours of afternoon sun), but full sun (six hours or more) is probably fine for you. I like my DSP to get deep leathery green, and they flower just fine in the conditions that I have them in, but you have to decide what works best in your environment. I have three of these. I had five of them but just sold two to friends. Here is a picture of some of mine. You can see a little leaf burn on one of them.

Oh I got a little of that when it got big enough to get closer to the light when it was inside; I figured that's what it was. I moved it a little away from the light.
A couple more leaves have that funny blackish look but no yellow, maybe still a reaction to last week's roller coaster temps. Today should be 87 to 88, humid, maybe some T-storms. gave it some Superbloom this am and sprayed it. I'll probably move it from my patio (some shade) to where I grow the sun-lovers (lilac, peony, herbs, lavender, and so forth).
Thanks to all for the hand-holding. I promised myself I won't buy or trade for more plumies until I see this one bloom.

I was in NJ last week and the temp dropped so suddenly and it was unusually cold. That kind of precipitous drop can give a plant (and me) a shock.

Gave us all a shock! Needed heat on last week, this week the AC.
