First baby frog!

At one time, we had hundreds of polliwogs in the pond but haven't seen any for several weeks. Also, the adult frog stopped vocalizing. This morning, as we were watching the waterlilies open, I spotted this little fellow.

Can you see him?

Here's a close-up. We're really enjoying all the "stuff" going on in the pond. It's just starting to clear from an algae bloom and thanks to this forum I knew we just had to wait. Now we're seeing all the baby gold fish. Still, one little frog out of all those polliwogs? Hope this one comes out now and again so we can watch him grow.

He sure is a cute little fella! I wish I had frogs but I do have toads.

I call it "the thousand frog march" Most of the little ones have turned into baby frogs now and I am seeing little "toadlets" everywhere. It looks like the ground is hopping. Right now most of them are staying near the water but it won't be very long now before they leave and start their own little froggy and toady lives......sigh

I sure hope we see more of them. This little guy was taking very short little swims from one place to the next. DH has a lot of wooden platforms floating right now to help with the algae bloom - one of his little experiments that might have helped. So the little guy went from platform to rock, to platform and then ever so gingerly stepped onto a lily pad. He seemed almost nervous about it. :-)

I saw several baby toads on the pond liner today. They are still in the pond but starting to head out.

We've still only seen one - at least we think he's the same one. :-(
