Does anyone have any experience with this plant? I'm kind of new to gardening, and this euphorbia seems to grow prolifically in Portland. But before I plant it, does it grow out of control? How much pruning am I going to have to do with it? Thanks!
Euphorbia c. Wulfenii invasive?
My experience with Euphorbias is that they are all very prolific, but I wouldn't consider them invasive. As far as pruning, I just cut them back if they start to look messy (especially the "flowers"), but I have a friend who never prunes them at all - and they look great. If you do find they are spreading more than you want, they are very easy to pull up. Hope this is at least a little help!!
They can self seed but aren't "invasive".
Mine are exceptionally well-behaved, so I keep acquiring more, wishing they would tend to the more prolific side in the self-seeding dept.
why is it that the ones you really want more of are scarce, but the ones that are commonly loathed want to take over the world?
I actually have two new varieties that I hope will be at least somewhat invasive - lol! "Shorty" has a bluish tint to it, and "Tasmanian Tiger" has striped foliage.
Oh, thanks for all the info! I think this plant looks so cool. Does it need full sun all day? I'm thinking of planting it next to a smokebush "Grace," which is in a spot that gets morning shade, afternoon sun. In that spot, the ground retains moisture in the spring, but I figure if the smokebush is happy there, the euphorbia will be as well. Please let me know if I'm making a mistake here. I sure appreciate the feedback!
Nice specimen there, Growin! I have my TT and my Shorty's in a raised bed (formerly known as a sandbox), but have other varieties growing here and there with no problem.
