hath no man for his hoya crazed wife than to climb up a very thin/bendable tree on the edge of a 50' drop off on an extension ladder to get the flowers from a blooming hoya!!! We finally got the extension on the 'fruit picker' and with that in hand, the wind blowing and the tree bending....I got my flowers!!!
I didn't mention that to see where he was cutting, he had to look into the sun!!!!

Carol, you have a keeper there.. both in hubby and flower. Those are the most incredible Hoya blooms I have ever seen. You look cute with your crown of flowers!! Any guesstimate on how long it will be before cuttings will be available? A year or two, maybe? Gosh, but they are huge!
Barb
Nice DH and BEAUTIFUL hoya - I want one!!
Carol be careful they will call you a flower child!!! Beautiful blooms!! I'd say that was true love climbing that ladder. Lucky lady!!!
Your friend,
Jeri
Thank you Carol hubby for climbing up that ladder and getting those beautiful hoya blooms for your wonderful wife, and which allowed her to share them with us. They are so beautiful Carol. Please add me to the list when or if they ever become available.

Wow, those are incredible blooms Carol!! Would lauterbachii be a difficult hoya to grow?.....if you don't live in Hawaii that is. It's an eriostemma.....could you grow it in a solarium?
Sandy
Yes...I think you could grow it in a sunroom or a solarium...as long as she had room to climb. It has taken me 3 years to get this to bloom...and she had to go really high up a tree and then start hanging down....
all i can say is WOW...i want one

I thought lauterbachii would probably die on me, since I keep all my hoyas in my house, and keep the temperature only just at comfortable. I've been keeping it on the heat mat since I bought it as a precautionary measure, right by the window, and it grows and it thrives there. It does particularly like it when it gets warm here - last week it got hot again, and I got two more new leaves - but it seems to also be able to cope with the cold spells. Heaven only knows if I'll ever see flowers - but with a show like that I really hope so! Even without the flowers it's a gorgeous plant - beautiful fuzzy leaves!
Oh yeah... it's raining again!
Carol,
Love the pictures. I purchased this Hoyas over the winter from Logees. It stated that it would take 3 years to get a blool, it needs to grow. Can I ask you any growing advice indoors? I have mine out side this summer and it seems to be at stand still. I thought it would talke off and start growing like my other Hoyas.
He is not much bigger. I have him growing in morning sun.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Mine plant is the same size as the one posted above.
Thank you-
Katrun... If you can give your H. lauterbachii MORE sun....FULL sun!!! you might get good growth. That plant I have is 5 years old and 2 years growing up a tree before it bloomed. It has taken me 8 months for new growth on cuttings....very very picky and slow!!!
Eriostemmas hate...just HATE...being moved. They like to climb up HIGH and then hang down to bloom. Keep this in mind when you grow it outside. You may lose all the growth when you bring it inside.
IF I were growing it inside, I would NEVER take it outside and I would grow it where it got Maximum Warmth and Maximum Light and I would let it climb up and around the ceiling.
Good luck....
Carol
