Fun with Photoshop? or Worth the money?

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

Check out the hibiscus offered by this seller... http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZangelchymesQQhtZ-1

I have never seen such lovely blooms on a hibiscus in my life! The seller is in Singapore and only has 1 feedback from over a year ago. I wouldn't spend my money now, but if this person is for real, I might save up for next year.

Has anyone ever seen (or even heard) of any of these varieties?

I think they're a scam. Some of the plants look familiar but they don't have the correct names and some of the pics look like they may have been enhanced a bit with Photoshop. But even if the flowers are all for real, they aren't things that would come true from seed. You'd have to propagate from cuttings to maintain the look of the parent plant, so who knows what the seeds will grow up to be. I'd stay away from this one.

Melissa, save up and splurge on a plant from www.atouchofthetropics.com in CA or www.hibiscusplace.com in FL; both companies are highly recommended here . I think you will be happier in the long run. Tropics is closer to you so perhaps their shipping costs would be lower. They might seem pricey but you will fall over when you see the quality and size of the plants you'll get.

They even have pale blue (or blu-ish) hibiscus now which would lok so pretty in front of the Dragon's Lair.

ardesia, have you ever ordered from Hibiscus Place? They have several ones that I want but they have no ratings in Watchdog so I'm a little cautious about ordering.

Gordo and Eclipse both speak so highly of them and I'd put $ on their recommendations. I am on a plant "fast" right now because an up coming home remodeling is keeping me from adding to the collection (and the confusion) LOL. However, now that I have family in FL I intend to visit Martindale's Hibiscus Place and see for myself. My personal experience and favorite is ATOT.

If Gordo and Eclipse like them then they must be fine, I'll go ahead and place my order if they have the ones I like in stock. I like ATOT too but I've already snagged all the ones they had in stock that I wanted, same with Hidden Valley Hibiscus and Exotic Hibiscus. (I decided to go on a hibiscus spree this year!)

My computer tech said that photo shop is not worth the money...(he is a professional photographer). I don't have the beginner's one for 400.00 or the fancy one for 800.00......My sister in law bought beginner's one and can really alter a photo.....

Holy Moly!!! What a scam artist!!
Did you notice there isn't a shadow beneath the flower?
And too much color saturation!!!

LOL!!! LOL!!! LOL!!!

Ardesia.

I'll check those links out. I am looking for hardy varieties, they don't seem to be as showy as the tropical. I was really hoping to find some outrageous plants for (as you mentioned) the Dragon's Lair garden. It is a really fun project!

...eager, isn't he? :-)
