I got this from you at the College Station swap April 29. It is now blooming and it is gorgeous,
I had wanted one of these for a long time.
Texas Milkweed, Asclepias texana, a beautiful Texas endemic plant.
I am so very grateful!!! Thank you very much.
The full bloom.
Hello Linda, look at the Asclepias texana you gave me.
Looking at the blooms make me think that this had to be the way that Angels learned to cross-stitch! Because something this beautiful & complex could only have come fr Heaven above!
:~)
Oooo... That's gorgeous!!
Well said Smockette! That is one georgeous plant Josephine! Glad you had great luck with it. When it seeds, I am sure you will be planting more, the Monarchs will love you!
Thank you everybody, and I will be glad to propagate it and pass it on to as many people as possible. Something this lovely deserves to be enjoyed by a lot of people.
It is a shame that these lovely native plants are not better known, those nurseries need to get with it and offer more of our wonderful plants.
Josephine.
It's really nice, isn't it? I wish it were easier to get seeds from those plants. Usually they don't make much, if any.
Oooohh...I would love to get ahold of some of that. Just beautiful! My antelope horns milkweed from the swap didn't make it, although it did donate a few monarch cats to my garden. Perhaps I can try some from seed next year.
:) Kim
Well, if you are able to propagate it, put me in line for one, please. I've never seen it before, and it is just beautiful!!!

Melanie
that is just so pretty., hope you have sucess
It is lovely. I like the heavenly reference. How tall is it?
I have white yarrow blooming now that reminds me of (stratus) clouds.
Beautiful!
Wow, that really is beautiful. I did not even know that we had an endemic milkweed. Off I go to learn more about it....
That is a beauty! If I meet up with you at the October swap, I would love some seed, Josephine. I planted some A. tuberosa recently, and I think your milkweed would look lovely mixed in with it. And it's a Texas native, you can't beat that. :-)
Carla
I will do my best to gather seed, Linda said it is not a prolific seed maker, if not ,I will try cuttings.
Right now, it is still in bloom, each branch has a blossom cluster, the plant has a different form than most milkweeds.
Josephine.
Isn't that just gorgeous! Love the unique stars on them. Perhaps it's the star of Texas???
Add me to the "want some" list!!
All right, I really love it too, I will do my best.
