Hi all. I've never been to the Hibiscus forum as I never had them before. I got two about a week ago from my mom and left them outside in direct sun. They are still in their original pots and on the sidewalk where I put all of my new full sun plants before they go in the ground. We have had rain nearly every day this week and I noticed this morning the buds were yellow and falling off! Only one is doing it not the other and they are side by side. Is it getting too much rain? I figured leaving them in the pots they would drain and having them on the sidewalk they wouldn't absorb the water from the ground. Any suggestions would be helpful. I usually hang out in the rose or texas gardening forums. I usually don't have to worry about my roses as they love the rain and extra water.
Yellowing and falling buds
Hi
I know that when I overwater mine - which I have a tendency to do - the leaves do turn yellow and I lose the buds. They also do not like to change position too often. They also love lots of fertilizer.
The ones that have done the best for me are from "A Touch of the Tropics" website. They came in a quick draining soil mix that is wonderful. They love water running over their roots, but hate to be saturated.
If I'm wrong on this someone please correct me.
Crystal
Thanks for your input. I also posted this question in the texas gardening forum and pretty much got the same answer. I did move them from my mom's to my porch and they have been throughout all this rain we've been getting. So, I think it may be a little of both. I am hoping to get them in the ground this week so I can get them on a pattern they will be happy with.
