Heres another pic of the new ones, if the front one is blue splash what is the coloring of the one in the back?
Another one
Looks like it may be a partridge to me. Can you post a closer pic?
when i got my buffs this year, they looked like partridges, but in the past, i had a plain yellow buff chick. Maybe s/he's a dark buff?
I thought the partridges looked the other one I posted a pic of, hmmmmm, maybe they are a range of colors that turn into partridges. The eggs I bought were black (none), white, buff, partridge, blue splash & red.
Arent they the cutest things!!!
My new Red silkie Hen started laying this week I sure hope she will set for me!
thanks! He/she does look a lil gruff! Eufaula you shouldn't have any problems with your girl setting, silkies are supposed to be great mothers, I originally wanted them to hatch out my guinea eggs next year, so a few turned into building a bigger chicken house so I could have more!
And yours are adorable too! Hopefully we do end up with different colors! I didn't think of keeping them confined for a photo, I chased them around!
Lora
Guess what?! One of the other ones that hatched has vaulted skull. He/she looks like it has a gorilla head. I got paranoid when I found it was a bump instead of feathers. It perfectly normal for silkie and means it will have a spectular top knot.....maybe SQ?? I am very excited!
THat sounds sort of creepy, actually :)
I'd love to see it.
Isnt it something!!! Just a couple of weeks and they change so much! Just look ant that cute stance! This is definitely one you will have to deal with!!! It seems to be saying " I am the King(or Queen) of the Roost!"
Lora, that chick looks just like my buff silkies. I'll rummage around and find a picture to post.
LoraK,They are cutie pies ..
I have one do to hatch today and NB went to school.. He asked me witch one will hatch and I said one silkie..

I LOVE that light buff! Mine look like Tuscany. The other chick with him in the pic when they were really young (the one I thought was a blue splash) looks like him too, but has kinda of blue undercoat and smaller. You have such great names for yours. I have to start naming mine, now that I know they are thriving. Shackleton is a cutie! My two dogs love bird poop yuck! I will have to take some new pics of my lil mutts. They love chickens parrots and kitties!
I'm having a tough time picturing the little blueish one. Can you post a pic of him/her too?
He's the one at the top of this page in front, the one I took the picture of when he is bigger is the one in the back. I will get a pic of him and post it tomorrow. I will be gone for the day soon, some stupid thing to do 3 hours away! And of course it will be midnight till we get back.
That sounds very cool!
ok it was 2am when I arrived home, didn't get to sleep in either after driving over 400 miles in one (*#$% day. Sorry no pic I will tomorrow though, got a lot done in the yard and coop and much much more to go. So tomorrow it will be posted and maybe some of the others too! The black one is so cute (but don't tell anyone he has a couple of pink toe tips :O )
All your silkie babies are beautiful, they are so much fun to watch grow up. Mine are soaking wet right now, they don't know when to get out of the rain, LOL. But I think it's warm enough for them in the coop tonight with out a blowing them dry. Actually they had a great time romping in the rain. I have one that's red in color, not sure where that came from, I only have one thats buff in color, and she's mostly white. I'm hoping its a she and not a he, I don't need anymore silkie roosters.
Thanks I am going to get pics and post them tomorrow. Everyone is growing so fast. My turkeys are getting huge! And they are not quite 4 weeks old! And I ended up three males/ 3 females. That will be another post!!!
