HELP! I think they sent the wrong Begonia!

Alexandria, VA(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone!
I just placed and received my first order from this company. I am very happy with the plants, They were in perfect condition.........Howerver, I ordered this one particular Plant " Mike Flaherty: Begonia. This is the plant that I wanted and then I got 2 more to go along with it. (You just can not order one plant!) shiipping..
I went to compare it to the photo because it looks so different and it is not what I expected. Long story short..I called the Company they said that as the plant grows the leaves will change. I have never owned this particular Begonia. As its quite different that's why I liked it so much.
Does any one own this plant? Its this normal is this what the plant its to look like?
My plant that I received resembles an Angle wing. It has (4) indentations on the leaf. The picuture shows 6 and it really does not look like the same plant.
Please anyone need your advice and information on this plant.

If you got your order via Kartuz nursery, then more than likely it is, they have one called O'Flaherty's Folly' - but i think as yours matures you'll find it becoming more and more indented. If you are really concerned email Brad Thompson or Mike Kartuz at the nursery (assuming of course that's where you got it) and send them these photos.

Katrun, you lucky duck.......I will start ordering from Kartuz....I am still having to repropagate with most of mine from GHW......I measured my brugsmansia today and it is a 16 " stalk with 2 leaves at the top...........same way with a lot of begonias,.......................there were about 5 that were decent. Yours are fabulous and soooooooooo big and healthy!!!
Congratulations!!!

BegoniaCrazy,
So you are saying Mostly likely it is What I ordered the "Mike Flathery"?
I just want to make sure. I spoke with the owner and the Begonia person. One said it was a
Substitute , then when I explained it was not written or marked and it was labeled "Mike Flathery. The owner said That it will change. I just want to make sure it is the correct plant
and was hoping someone on the fourm has one or is familiar with them.
I just want to verify the ID. Thank You.

PS. I do not want to post the Name of the place where I ordered it.
Just want to know if this is the correct Begonia.

*(unless its the incorrect Begonia) LOL!

katrun, wish I could help. It kind of looks like the same shape of leaf but, I'm with you, it just doesn't look like the same plant. The leaf on your plant looks a little more hairy. Maybe it's the pic or lighting.

Your right about the hair! My plant is very hairy, the original picture is not. :(

Katrun,

Brad Thompson the hybridizer of B. 'Mike Flaherty' is at Kartuz Greenhouses. Your plant is just young. I have B. 'Mike Flaherty' with very dark color and it is eight feet tall.
My picture is of a young plant that resembles yours.
