One small step for plumerias, one giant leap for me!
I have my very first plumeria seedling sprout! I think it has been about 6 days since I planted them and I was a little impatient two days ago and pulled a couple up gently and saw roots! Well, a singel tap root. Well was I surprised today to find this! I gently pulled the 'wing' off and this is what I have. Right now it is under my dryer vent warming up.. only 58 outside today and very wet for 2 days.
I understand it is nothing new to those of you who have started hundreds or more but for me, this is exciting.
I am a pround mama! LOL

I have a seedling sprout!
Tammie,
Congrats on your first plumeria seedling!! I received 6 seeds a while back, my first ones. I soaked the seeds in a wet paper towel overnight using a kelp solution, then planted them next day. I too, was impatient and had to check to see if that they were doing anything under the soil, and they were putting out the tap roots also.
Within a week they were all up and I cleaned the wings off like you did. I have them outside now. I'll take a pic when I get the chance.
Congrats, Tammie!
I have some seeds given to me to start, glad to hear they come up so fast!
Yeah Tammie!!! Your success stories are encouraging...just might "try" seeds at some point.
I planted about 20 seeds and now have 5 happy seedlings and 2 that are struggling... 4 of the happy ones are starting their true set of leaves now. I probably would have had more if I had not let them stay too wet. I have 6 seeds I just planted... will see how they do. I am removing them from the starting nursery as soon as the leaves appear so the root is still very small and easy to transplant without damaging it. They are going into small 6" round pots to start with... that way I actually have space for more of them. These are just the little green pots. I am sooo excited! The largest is almost 3" tall already!
