Rookie here! Tips please

My dad gave me an Angel Trumpet. I don't know what kind it is.
I dipped it in growth hormone and put it in the ground. How long does it take for it to look.....alive?

Here is a close up where I scratched to see if it was green inside.
I think I read that some where....

It will grow roots before it starts to look alive. Give it some time. So, there probably is a lot going on underground that you can't see. Since it is green, it is still alive. How long ago did you plant it?

Maybe 5 days ago..... I know it's alive..... I just worry I'll kill it. LOL!!!!

I hope you dont mind me copying your photo to show what I would do with it for a more pleasing look. I would take 2 cuts off that branch. You can start 2 more from those that will be fairly straight.

Awesome! I can do that?? I Thought it would be too small!
I'm on it!
That is so neat!
This Angel Trumpet has been in my family for around 50 years. Not the actual roots but the cuttings to pass on have been from the same plant.

I know that my NBC is a different plant (forum) but it is AT LEAST 150 years old. And it has original pieces on it too!

Dangitgirl, I'm with Delisa. You should cut that up as described. For one thing it will make for a sturdier plant when it leafs out. With that crooked stem you will always run the risk of a top heavy unstable plant that could blow over in a heavy wind. Plus you could get two more plants to put around your property.

Done deal! I am splitting it up right now!
