Beginner Kopper King question.....

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I ordered one of these from B &B and it is growing very well. So far , however, the foliage is not at all the deep red that I see everywhere else. The main middle vein in the leaf is red but that is all. It is in a sunny greenhouse.

What am I doing wrong? or was this a mislabeled hibiscus?

Any help would really be appreciated, I know how easy hardy hibiscus are to grow, but I have never had this one.

Trpicanna, my kopper king is more green than red right now. It comes in more with age. Ive had mine for about 3 years now and it always looks better the more it grows and the older it gets. On mine the middle starts out dark but as they grow they get the kopper color they are known for.

Beautiful! I wish mine were showing that kind of color-still only the red veins so far. I'm moving it out of the greenhouse into the garden this weekend-maybe that will help!

I would think it would help, these guys love the full sun. It gets the morning shade here so I planted it in the middle of my front yard so it can get a full days afternoon sun. The blooms are just beautiful.

Where I plan to put it gets a very nice mix of sun and shade-not enogh of either to be too much-cannas, elephant ears, gingers, and other hardy tropicals are loving it there. Have a couple hardy hibiscus that did very nicely last year, too. I appreciate you showing me the pics-I sure didn't want to ask the company if they made a mistake-I love B &B.

Your welcome. It also made me realize I didnt have any pics of the leaves myself and very few in the plant files so, I added it.
