IE flashes...help!

I'm having a puzzling problem. When I click on my IE icon, a screen flashes on quick, then goes off. I can never get on the internet! I finally had to download AOL and get on that way. Do any of you know what is hapening! I can get my mail from OE...but cannot even get on IE. It is most frustrating!!!
