You've got it exactly-it's a Mandevilla vine-easy to care for. Keep it watered and in full sun. Mine was on a sunny porch, and I know I never gave it fertilizer and it bloomed all summer. Might have really, really bloomed if I had fertilized it.

I had one a couple of years ago, wanted to keep it inside for the winter but the aphids really found it first. Beautiful plant.

Thanks I was wondering if you can grow in winter in house if I spray for bug I will have to look this up and do some reach on it, See if you can get more thanks again

My neighbor keeps her Mandevilla in the house in the winter in a bright south window, so it can be done. It takes a while to look good in the summer though.

Hello Kim, from Kim (too).
Your Mandavella is going to do great if you just give it fun sun, and ALOT of water. Even here in my zone. I treat them as annual, but one is a must-have, for it blooms continously all through summer -- non-stop!
For the money we paid for this gorgeous vine, instead of spending more to try to keep them indoors overwinter isn't sound (to me). Since they will attract alot of bugs into the house, or greenhouse all the same.

p.s. I'd transplant it to a large, deep pot (this would help giving it more room for the roots to expand, and soak up more moisture, save you time on watering it. I found it's very thristy, likes that of Roses).

You're going to need a taller trelis as well. This is mine; approximately 8' tall. Which I reserved for this very vine every year. :-)
My current one is about eye-level now. But give it another month in our climate, it'll reach up and reward you with lots of blooms.

I don't know what you pay for them down there but up here they are 22 bucks at homedepot
and only 1 1/2 ft tall

heck I just paid 45 bucks for one of the double mandi's

for that much money I winter mine over in the house

yours will grow like crazy this summer,if you want to winter it over in the house you should have no problem
It won't look great in spring but will grow quickly once its outside next year

I've tried to overwinter mine indoor. Unless we've a heated greenhouse with all the bell and whistles....so to speak. It has never return its vigor. I wound up with inactive spent vines that look tired, then just sit there and pout. The root system is one massive succulent rhyzome system that needs some kind of rejuvinating actions. Division, bigger pots, more fresh potting soils, and the requirement list goes on and on....
Happy gardening.

I kept 2 in the greenhouse winter 05/06, when I put them out last summer the summer was almost gone before they got really nice. I put them in GH last winter but they got so bad with mealy bugs, I pitched them during the winter.
