My tulip leaves grew twisted this spring and did not bloom. My iris Is blooming, but she's not even half her size. I think the snow salt may have damaged them... Is there anything I can do to flush out the salt from the soil so they come back next year?
Salt damage to iris and tulips
Lots and lots of water - but it won't do Iris any good, depending what kind they are. And tulip bulbs are better off being dry during their dormancy. Maybe you can move them after they bloom. Is the salt from the road crews? It'll probably happen again... how about planting something more salt-tolerant? I can't think of anything offhand though.
I salted in front of my house and it snowed so much I had no where to put it except in my garden.*shakes head* I won't make THAT mistake next winter...I have some other plants that are doing fine. I don't know very much about pH, but I wonder if there's something I can add to the soil to eradicate the salt.
