this hummingbird visits alot lately - he likes the purple verbena and seems to ignore the salvia 'hot lips' so far (its barely blooming, tho) can you see - the blur right in the middle by the eucalyptus. sorry for the bad photo : ( - this is the best of 10 I could take - not used to me yet, I guess.
Not the best picture - but can you see HIM?
You did better than me, Today I had another visit too, but couldn't get a pic at all, LOL! My Chihuauah heard the humming, barked, and scared the little thing away too fast. Needless to say, Itty is grooooooounded from going out there when I'm lerking to catch a shot of the hummer(s)...LOL!
Oooh! I see your little hummer! Glad to see some birdies going for nectar flowers and not just feeders. I would love to have hummers too. But I would really love it if the hummers like my flowers and I could skip using feeders altogether. Of course, now I'm being FAR too picky ...... since I have NO hummers at all! LOL! I guess there is just no pleasing me! LOL!
Becky, I think this is going to be your year!... mine are not visiting the feeders - they look at them and fly away... I should just take them down until winter ( they do rely on them during the cold months) . I'm excited for more of my hummingbird plants to bloom - I've actually never seen them drink from the verbena before ?

I totally see your hummie! Yeah for you! I love your Maple, too! What type is it?

Yay! I see him! What a pretty little corner!
thank you, I'm glad you see him - I feel silly for posting a picture of a barely there flutter ! That maple was one of the first trees i put in our yard, it was teeny - the label just said Japanese Maple - the wind was blowing just when I took the picture - the underside of the leaves look fiery red compared to the top - I love that tree! It grows about 1.5-2 ft per year. I hope that helps.
