I am going to be traveling through Southern and Central California. Can anyone recommend a good nursery with a large selection of plumerias? Would like to be able to purchase named varieties.

Well, C-Stars is one of the largest wholesale plumeria nurseries in Southern California, and they do allow visitors and will sell to you at retail prices. They do carry a few named varieties like Cancun Dreams, Pacific Pearl, Lipstick, Vera Cruz Rose, San Pedro du Lac, and some others. However, some of their names were made up by them and aren't accurate. For example, their 'Playful' is really 'Cancun Pink'; their 'Lavender Splash' is really 'Princess Victoria'; their 'Lilliana' is really 'Vera Cruz Rose'; their 'Princess Maya' is really 'Rose Red'; and, so on. They are located at 17654 S Normandie Ave, Gardena, CA 90248

There are few others that I can't think of right now, but they will come to me.
I should also mention that Home Depot, Target, Lowes, and other chain stores in the Los Angeles areas also carry plumerias this time of year. Also, Armstrong Nurseries and Green Thumb/Green Arrow Nurseries also carry them. Armstrong Nursery has Hawaiian Days, and you can find them on sale during those events.
