It looks like 'Lucerna' - an oldie but a must have for everyone. It was our very first begonia (over 30 years ago) and is a great pass along plant. Hard to kill.

I concur! and it's a nicely grown one too!

Just happened across this thread. My best friend is coming in for the weekend. She is a cane begonia nut!!!! We are potting up new cuttings, but our all time favorite is Cane Lucerne!!!! She says that hers on the patio right now is over 6 feet tall..............amazing in a pot....

Ok I'm hooked on this one and can't find a supplier on the net. Would anyone be willing to trade a cutting?

Of course.....but you gotta give me a couple of weeks....have trades going out on Monday and the following Monday.....just dmail me......that is how I keep track of what I have promised.

In my mailbox I have file folders-trades working on & trades sent (and I still lose track).

dale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just envy you for being able to successfully grow rex begonias!!!!

I can't even find the original notebook where I kept all trades with addresses, etc..................I am not sure that , except for my dmail, I will ever keep up.....

I have piece of Lucerna coming thanks to a very generous gardener. Thanks everyone.

I'm going to put Lucerna on my want list :~)

It is fantastic, dale, but it sure looks like some kind of begonia and not hoya to me..................are you sure???

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

The plant with slender spotted leaves is a hoya. What I would like to know is what is the plant with the rectangular leaves????

The plant with spotted leaves is ledebouria (silver squill) and the one with rectangular leaves is a silver dollar maidenhair fern (Adiantum peruvianum).

Hey Dale, I too have a question on your photo above. What kind of begonia is the one with the black leaves on the right??

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

It was not my flower box, belongs to a friend. Our plants rarely come with ID tags here. I just buy 'em and plant 'em. I have no idea what its name is.

This isn't the hoya forum but today at a nursery called Gill's in CC they had hanging baskets of the most beautiful variegated hoya I have ever seen................I wouldn't buy as they were 24.00 each.....
