I needed to get a 15 gallon nursery pot to put one of my brugs in that was pot bound. I know that by the fall I would need several of these pots but for now i needed to cut down on expenses so I was looking for one. I grabbed the pot off the floor. I thought the label said $3.98. It rang up $7.99. I argued with the lady and finally she gave it to me for $3.98 because the labels were screwed up. It should have been $7.98. I left there with the biggest smile on my face because i got a bargain. Very Happy
I left home depot and drove down the block and around the corner to go to the supermarket. As I turned the corner I could see tomorrow must be Bulk Garbage pickup because everyone had stuff out on the corner to be picked up. I looked at the house across the street and there was a stack of 20 gallon nursery pots out on the street with old furniture and a broken crib. I made a quick U-turn and grabbed 11 brand new 20 gallon nursery pots. They have never been used. They were still tied together with the binding strap that they were shipped with from the factory!!!!
Sometimes when the planets are aligned right anything is possible!!!!!

I have had great luck with people throwing pots out in the trash-
they must not be serious gardeners, as at any time I have pots of all sizes stacked and stored :-)

Oh My Gawsh!!! I scored like 20 black 5 gal pots last year and felt like I stoled something.. LOL It took me quite a few minutes before I felt like I could stop looking in my rear view mirror as I drove away! LOL I would faint if I got those 20 gal pots! Good for you Gary!

I scored on 5 gallons last year at a new housing tract. Drove through as they were finishing the planting and saw piles of the 1 & 5 gallon pots. Stopped and asked and they said to take what I wanted. Over 100 5 gallon & at least 30 1 gallon. I tried taping them together to make a 20 gallon, but it just doesn't work the same.
