Found a bunch of eggs on the plants I just put in last week

Centereach, NY

Is there anything I need to do for them? I am pretty sure what I have are Shubunkin and I would love for some of the little ones to make it so is there anything I can do to help them? And one more thing can someone please advise on a good and hopefully easy to use test kit for my pond I want to make sure the fish are as healthy as can be, thanks!

What do these eggs look like? If they are tiny dots inside a clear jelly like mass that is attached to the plant they might be snail eggs. Any of the commonly sold quick dip test strips for ponds work just fine. Be sure to keep them completely, totally dry and don't use them after the expiration date. Shubunkins are great, colorful easy to care for fish. I still have my first one, 6 yrs and counting. Happy ponding!

Parrots feather, water hyacinth and water lettuce all make great "nurseries" for baby fish. The long root systems on the hyacinth and water lettuce are a great place for them to hide from the adults and the hairy roots tend to collect food for them. The parrots feather also allows a lot of cover for the little ones. If they are fish eggs they should hatch out in a matter of days and a few weeks later you should be seeing very small fish. Have fun!
