This butterfly caught my eye but ran away before I could get a decent picture. (My camera is "broken". In particular the vibration reduction appears to be failing.) Can you help me id him/her?
Butterfly ID?
Scutler-
Was it yellow in color? Kind of looks like the markings on Sulpher's that I've seen in my yard...

Hi Adrienne,
The color was very much like that in the photo, especially as seen in the thumbnail.
I have lots of cloudless sulfurs in my yard. This butterfly was definitely not a bright yellow like that. Do you know which sulfur you are thinking it might be? That way I could look it up and see if it "fits".
I mentioned that my camera is "broken". It is displaying an error message because the vibration reduction/image stabilization module is defective. The camera is still capable of taking perfect pictures but only if neither subject not camera moves at all. (Because it is still taking excellent photos most of the time I'm waiting until I get a backup before sending it in for repairs.)
I only got one chance to take a quick picture of the butterfly from a distance before it flew away, and as you can see I failed to keep the camera imobilized; hence the photo is slighly out of focus or blurred. The color, however, was not effected.
Thank you very much.
scutler it has all the form and color of an Emperor, (sure it's a brushfoot) but without a real clear pic it is hard to tell .. I will try to dig a bit deeper.
Looks like the bottom of the lower wing is gone.... Check to see it it could be a Southern Pearl Eye.
