Truck tire split-rim.....

Any truck drivers out there? These split rims make great containers. Course, they can't be used on a deck, no bottom!

Two different twists on the truck rim deal----watch for rims from Big farm tractors---usually 4 ft dia by 12 "to 18 "deep----most people will give them to you if they are already broken---down side is they are heavy---we also use them for fire rings at our fishing and hunting camps---my favorite is discarded cattle and horse watering tubs---they range from 3 ft to 10 ft in dia---most are 30 " deep---farmers want you to haul them off after they can't stop the leaks---I fill them with a combination of topsoil and feedlot compost after cutting big holes in the bottom with cutting torch or recip type saw---have cut holes with metal cutting blade in skil type saw----triangular holes are easiest---most convenient size is 6 ft dia---you can reach the middle easily---after everything comes up and I have thinned it I set up drip irrigation on a timer with fert injector---I quickly got spoiled gardening from a folding chair --LOL---phil

Phil,

Great idea, those farm tractor rims, I'll have to keep my eyes open for them! I used this truck tire rim for years as a campfire ring also. That's why I still have it, just couldn't throw it away.

Here's an updated picture of the Musquee du Maroc squash. It's really taking off!
