Spring brings out the mosquitoes and stinging gnats in droves. Not only are the itchy red bumps extremely uncomfortable, there is sometimes the possibility that other ailments can be transmitted to us as well. Darius posted an excellent preventative that I recommend highly. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/519691/ (Vinegar of the Four Thieves)
I spray it on early in the day before going outside, and find it is effective about four hours so I reapply.
I put it in a small spray bottle and apply it undiluted. (I don't use the garlic.) Instead of a gallon container I use two quart jars to make it and store in the fridge.
Some folks may not have all the herbs available, and a comercial source is listed. The overall price may cause you to hesitate, but the supply is generous. I keep the unused portion stored in the freezer. You
could also go in on the purchase with a couple of neighbors. Good stuff! Yuska
