I have a container with lavender on my southern exposure deck. My "secret" last year was neglect, which seemed to work pretty well. The plant was happy and then it surprised me and survived the winter. Now I want to make sure I dont kill it in the regular season.
Has anyone had experience with lavender in containers? For example I am never quite sure I'm getting the watering right--I know they like it dry, but how dry? The deck tends to get very hot.
Thanks!

I have a 1/2 oak barrel with about 3 different lavenders in it. Most of it was pretty well choked out with the Munstead variety, but it's pretty happy. My problem too is wondering about the watering. I am in a fairly cool climate, so I could easily overwater it I think. Your question is a good one! I hope others chime in here.
