Beautiful!!! Congratulations VV!!! Their so cool looking; aren't they?

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

Yes, they are...and a big surprise.

I suppose that they must have passed through here before. I can't think of anything new around the Valley that would've made this year particularly special. This is the first time I can recall seeing them, though; maybe I'm just paying a bit more attention since there's been so much plant damage due to the Easter Freeze.

Anyhoo, in going out to get some work done this morning, there they were (about 30 of them, coming/going) up in the Tree of Death. Thanks to reading many past posts of all you able avianistas, I put together the little masks and the grouping tendencies to make the guess at cedar waxwings.

The tree that captured their congregation? A Pterocarya...thus the thread:

Where's waxwing?

Why...in the wingnut.

Yep, Cedar Waxwings.

Shame about the Pterocarya - any sign of new growth, or is it dead?

We are fortunate that for some reason they have over-nighted in our back yard for the last 3 years. Came through here late this year. Usually in early March.....this time early April.
Indication of something different when the wildlife are reacting to the climate. Guess they knew about the late freezes that hit the country. I am just outside of Dallas Texas.

Your pictures are great.
