I have a 100 gal. pond -- just enough for me to deal with and four goldfish. They are quite big now. The largest was black when I bought it and over a period of time it turned gold (must be the gold enhancing fish food). I've had the whole set up for about 2 years.
This morning I saw not one, but three little black fish ! I could hardly believe it -- they're a good 2-1/2 inches. They came out from a large stone I have leaning against the pond wall -- makes a nice. cozy tunnel. If these babies survive I guess I'll have to try and find a home for them somewhere (maybe a pet store will take them) as I know 7 fish will be too many for the pond. I'm just surprised that the fish didn't eat the spawn - I know they help themselves to the frog spawn because in the morning I see it and by the end of the day it's gone.
Here's a couple of photos of the pond taken last year (I need to update photos).
Black goldfish ?
Congratulations! Very pretty pond too.
Many goldfish are black when they are young and gradually turn gold. If they are goldfish you have plenty of room for the new additions. I have that many in my 55 gal. aquarium in the house and they seem very content. If they are Koi you will need to find new homes for them. Such a pretty little pond! Thank you for sharing the pics with us.
