hi Jan!

Nicely done! My AC1503 has long since dropped its flowers :-( I should have grown it better ...

Once you get multiple crowns on Purple Crest, you'll find you get a lot of blooms. These sinningias really do better on their 2nd and 3rd bloomings.

Hi Ki,
Thanks.I really enjoy growing these plants. There just beautiful. Will it rest after blooming? Then branch?

You did so great with those, jannich. From seed to a blooming plant deserves a lot of credit. Very nice indeed.

Jan, I am impressed!!!!! That requires a lot of patience......I am finding out that a lot of plants in this family don't necessarily have pretty foliage until they get older like your purple beauty.

Hi Jan, it doesn't branch, but rather it sends out new growths from the tuber. Do you only have one crown now? The growth that has flowered will die back in time. I find mine keeps sending out new growths so it's never truly dormant, although it is not always in bloom. It tends to slow down after a blooming spree - last fall I had 4 or 5 crowns blooming (18 or so flowers) - after that it bloomed on one crown which is now dead, and currently the new growths are still young.

Thank you! These are pretty amazing plants.

Gail,You got so great plants at the sale!

Thanks Ki,I'll no what to look for now.You had 18 flowers on yours.Must have been beautiful!
If I take a leaf from AC 1530 will it form a tuber? Still learning here.lol.

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

leaf will probably form a tuber, and may send out a growth but may not.... Some sinningias will not bloom if propagated from a leaf. Crown/tip cuttings work, and apparently so does bloom stalk propagation:

As it's a species (not a hybrid), seed propagation is also possible of course.

Jan, hold on to your big purple so you can have 18 flowers, too................

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Ki,I put down 2 bloom stalks, one split, one not (like the link showed)and a leaf.I will see which one works better to get a tuber. If they all take I'll have plenty of these plants.LOL.I tryed for seeds but I haven't seen a seed pod yet.
