Kassia, thanks so much! You're so sweet. Too bad your mom couldn't be here by Mother's Day. But the day she arrives will be Mother's Day and Christmas and everything else. I'll bet you're excited that you finally have a date and they are really coming. Yea!

Thanks Kassia, glad your Mom is coming ....you sound excited and you should be! I'm sure you'll have lots of fun planning and planting with her. Enjoy the time with her, it's lonely when they are gone.
I wanted to wish all you ladies a Happy Mother's Day!! and share a poem that I love, on this special day.

A MOTHER'S LOVE

A Mother's love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendoured miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.

Give your mom an extra big hug for me. I miss those hugs SO much. It's been 35 years since I had the last one from my mom. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of my wonderful, loving parents: I still miss them both, much more than I can say (as the tears roll down my cheeks).

Happy Mothers Day to all! Pirl, I know what you mean. My fondest memories as a child is sitting on the floor next to my mom's chair and just resting my head on her stomach as she stroked my hair. She had MS and couldn't raise her arms to hug me so her stroking my hair was the best hugs ever. Here's to the wonderful moms!

If I started writing how much I owe to my mother the pen (or keyboard) would finally stop at my last breath. I see so much of her in myself, including in my gardening. Any creativity / artistic sense I have comes from her. I cherish every moment with her. Can't imagine the world without moms. It would be a world not worth it.

My Mom used to pay us for catching ladybugs and putting them on her roses to eat the aphids when we were very young. Guess she was ahead of her time. We learned the value of work and the value of natural pest control. I miss her and I 'm so sorry for all the pain and heartache I caused her.

Thinking about what you said, A Yankee Cat, and can tell you quite honestly, when I look at my kids I don't think:

A wrecked Jaguar on graduation night but nobody was hurt, thankfully.
A terrible first marriage and the anguish that went with it for my daughter.

.......or a myriad of many other things. I do recall the joy of all the little things they've done and said over the years and I've told them, often, how much those little things are such great memories. I do hope mothers everywhere put aside any negative thoughts and dwell on the good and positive things. Nobody's perfect.

Amen, Pirl.

Cute story to get you all smiling:

My son went to camp one year when he was about 9 or 10 and arrived home with gifts for my daughter, myself and his "girlfriend" (who, he said, made great peanut butter and jelly sandwiches). I saw the big eye popping things he had for the others but for me he had a lovely "gold" ring, set with four "rubies". I asked why he bought me something so very beautiful. His reply was a classic:

Well, Mom, they had jewelry for 75 cents, $1.00 and $1.50 and I spent $1.50 on yours because I know, when it comes to jewelry you like the good stuff. Then he showed me the "best part" of the ring - it was expandable, "..in case you get fat".

That has to trump the wrecked Jaguar that came when he was 18. It does for me!

oh Pirl, that is funny!!! lol!!!!!

I am so excited to see my mom... I spoke with her before they left and she is happy to come but one of her best friends had a real hard time going to say good bye... my mom is moving here for good... so she has mixed feelings... but I hope we can build new memories... I told her that she needs to be here next to me.. I NEED her!!!! and we have tons of things to do... I hope that gardening will be something to do again!!!! I will post pictures tomorrow!!!

Enjoy! I know you will. We'll all be anxious to see pictures!
