I had taken the lady at the hardware store several violets and she loved them!! Since I was runnning out of room here, I told her that she could come to my house and I would give her at least 30 blooming violets (feeling so generous I was)...ya know it is hard to part with your loved ones (LOL)...she just left my house and is so excited because she wants to give them to the women over 70 in her church for Mother's Day tomorrow. I had no earthly idea she was giving them away.....but I learned something good!!!! That is the lesson of giving without knowing who they are going to!!!! At first when she told me, my tummy dropped.....then the more I thought about it, I thought, "how nice of her to want to do it"......( a lot of elderly women are going to be thrilled)
Now, I do have room !!!! (LOL)
must share a violet story...too good not to pass on!!!!
What a great story! Happy Mother's Day, everyone!
Now, you'll just have to go get some more AVs............... : ) Pam

That is heartwarming, Gail. Wonderful things can happen if we 'let the fates allow'.
Generous GessieGail .... What a Wonderful "Gift" you have given to so many for Mother's Day! Yes, the gift will be through another lady, but it originated with your Generous Spirit!
Happy Mother's Day My Friend! You deserve to have a Wonderful Day!
Lin
Today was a good day......all the way around......jannich told me about the Corpus Christi Av sale today.............my dining room is overflowing with plants that were so gorgeous and yet soooooooooo inexpensive....nothing was more than 10.00 including the ones like I am going to show you!!!!
My motives aren't always pure......I HAD to give away all those plants so I could make room for the new (hanging my head in shame!!!!)
All the big bowls had at least 7 big episcias in each one for 10 bucks flat...see the little yellow blooms
Off to night night time!!!
What an up lifting & encouraging story Gail!
I'm sure it mean so much to whoever receives them.
You're a keeper for sure.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone.
MsC
Oh how great is that! Love that bowl of Episcia's! I'd be in BIG trouble if I lived in a city that had sales on Gesneriad's! I am new to Episcia's too ... have 4 that I've gotten in Swaps here on DG just recently and I love them! I'm kinda loving the Chirita's, Strep's and Episcia's a bit more than AV's for some reason! Maybe it's just cause they are so new to me! My Episcia's aren't blooming yet, but hopefully it won't be too long!
Oh Gail ... You do not have to hang your head in shame! You needed to give those plants away to make room for all your new babies! If you had kept them, and gotten all these new ones too, they would all have suffered by being so cramped! :) You just made space for some new ones and helped a whole bunch of ladies have a Happy Mother's Day at the same time!
You are a Good Girl!
Great story.Your violets will make alot of ladies happy.
Way to go Gail...nice "move".
Have a great Mother's Day all.
Laura
Oh Gail,
What a sweet thing to do! I bet you made a lot of Mothers have a Happy Mothers day.
I have been giving a few here and there as gifts also, people seem to really love them and they are pretty inexpensive. I just pick up pretty vases at yard sales, put some gravel in the bottom, add a clay pot of violets and viola! instant gift :)
Sue
Sue, I am late to early service but these ladies said that got all their round vases from Hobby Lobby for practically nothing....do you have a Hobby Lobby around?
No, wish I did. I have been buying beautiful vintage milkglass and pottery vases at our local St Vincents for 50 cents a piece. I grow all of my violets in clay pots but put them in the vintage pots to dress them up a little.
