vinyl labels ,where do you get them?

New Port Richey, FL(Zone 9b)

Where on earth do you get those vinyl labels I see them on plants tied onto small branches. They are about 8 inches long and you slip them around the branch and through itself in a slit on one end.A Sharpie seems to write on them and stay's pretty long on them and holds up to the sun's UV. I've seen them in several differant colors. Now where can I buy them? Don

Kareoke, I did the same thing. I went to a thrift shop and got a set of white blinds, cut up the slats and used a hole punch on half of them to tie onto the plants, and will use the other half to tag in planters.

I got about 600 for 2.00. LOVE those deals! :-)

Mini blinds work for me too but I use a paint pen instead of Sharpie. Seems to hold up better for me.

Blinds are definately the cheapest way to go, and if you use a pencil with a heavy lead it lasts a long time, I have a number 9

A wax pencil works better than anything. Available at your local office supply.
So good I think they can write on wax paper. There's another name for it but can't
think of it right now. The only thing is that it is wrapped in string. A boogar when
you need to expose more of the writing tip. LOL

Jackie,
I use a regular pencil sharpner to make a tip on mine. The other name for them is China marker.
I like the paint pens too but they are hard to find here. I usually have to order them online.

Caren, I was finally able to unwrap the string and expose more writing tip.
I've not seen the paint pens. I'll check those out on line.

I also use the venetian blinds and hole punch. I got my VB at wal mart. paid a little over 2.00 and I didn't count them but I got hundreds. Enough to fill 2 empty checkbook boxes to the top. I also punched holes in about half and left the rest to sick in pots or seedling flats. I got some of those plastic ties used for computer cords at dollar tree for 1.00 and there are a lot of them in 3 sizes. they are the ones you pull the end through the little hole and it locks itself on. Great desciption, huh? I also use paint pens and found them at WM in the craft dept.

Lowes carries paint pens in the paint dept by the special effects paints

Yardqueen that is exactly what I do, you can't beat them

Doris,

I may have even gotten the idea from you! LOL I know you sent me brugs last fall! How are you doing?

Carol

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Yes those plastic ties are great.. they are called 'zip ties' in many places.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Carol I am doing fine, far better than my brugs this year, the weather has not been good for them at all, then losing so many to the spray, I only have about 10 now and they all look as though the leaves are stunted, definately no blooms for me this year.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I mostly use pencil. Pencil only works on the plastic labels, which I use on seedlings. I got my vinyl labels from a local place (Southwest Fertilizer, aka, Yardgeek.com http://davesgarden.com/gwd/c/3704/ ). For those, I have an "outdoor" marker. I tried paint pens, but didn't like them. They last well outdoors, but you better either have a big label or a little name, becase even the "fine" points are fat. Plus, you have to let them dry and they can be messy.
