Unfinished business (LOL)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have no earthly idea how I uploaded my pics to flickr, but i did!!!! You deserve to know that at 2:00 this afternoon the computer tech said he was on his way to repair my computer so I could upload photos again.......6 hours later I have photos I think.....but you need to see my unfinished business in the kitchen where I left it when the tech walked in.
I don't know much about the gesneraid family of plants, but I found my first at Wally World back in January...............haven't been the same since!!!!
The cattle are welcome to eat and stomp around the outside of the house (like they did last night.....at least 100 of them got loose in my yard)
Do I care???? NO
I have found African violets and related plants!!
Hope I do this right:

I don't know what i did wrong.....I put a tag on each photo?????? Now you don't know if they are minis, mini standards or standards???? maybe someone can tell me why the tags are not there to say what the picture is????

Way to Go Gail! Lovely AV's! ......... :) and ..... I love your kitchen too! Mine is so old and outdated and small .... I would love to have a kitchen with an Island!

edited to say: I don't know a thing about Flickr, so I can't help you there!

hi - nice photos!

You have some odd settings there, lol. You have it set so anyone can download your photos (you might want to change that if you care if other people - like unscrupulous ebay sellers - decide to make your photos their own. if you don't care, it doesn't matter).

And you have it set so that not everyone can add tags or notes, and you might want to change those to allow people to do so....

All of these you can do by going to Your Account which is under the "You" menu.

Did you add tags while uploading? You should be able to add them afterwards too - click on each photo so you're looking at a screen that basically as one big photo only. To the right of it, there should be a place to add tags.

If you want to change the title of each photo from PICT.... to the name of the plant, you can do so by simply moving your mouse/pointer/cursor over the text and clicking. Save your changes.

There's also a place under the photo but above the comments where you can add a description.

hey, kudos for setting up an easy to remember web address for your flickr pics!

When you get a chance, add me as a contact and also change your buddy icon (also in Your Account) - you can pick a piece of one of your flickr phots to show as your icon, or upload a separate pic.

Pop corn!!! I uploaded over 50 pictures....this has 4....

I see 6. What did you use to upload? Did you do it from a flickr page or did you use the Uploadr? I recommend using the Uploadr (see "Uploading tools" on the uploading page) and uploading less than 15 pics at a time. Make sure each of your photos is less than 10 MB.

OK.....I think I may be catching on...I only have them in sets now...but that is better than what i was doing.....If I had already put them in sets, then how would you send several sets???? or can I erase those sets???

I am a slow learner, Keyring....I am going to take the time to edit just like the six you saw....then I will start all over and maybe all the photos will appear.....
you are soooooooooooo nice to show me how...I think I have it now......

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

slow is good :-)

There's a good interface for organizing your sets - see the Organize menu.

before you upload 1000 pics, I would recommend getting used to the descriptions and tags and such with the photos you already have uploaded.....

I'm impressed!! I have no idea how to add to flicker but I like your violets :)

I am not going to upload any more photos until I totally understand this......why do you add a tag, keyring????? and do I put something on the tag???

******* If I had read the instructions first, I might?? have not asked so many questions....now I know why you add a tag.....will do that tomorow....
thanks Keyring for all your help!!!!!!

Tags used to be more important because they were the only way to search photos well. They've since upgraded their search engine so that it's possible to search titles and descriptions as well. I usually tag with IDs (saintpaulia, gesneriaceae etc) but you can tag with anything (flower, pink, "girl leaves" etc).

Gessie your kitchen looks like mine, we have to shove the plants and pots aside to find a place to eat. Did you read the hilarious article in the new AV magazine about violet obsession? You will laugh out loud while reading it. She hits home on so many things like buying furniture just for the plants and starting with a few plants on a window sill and ending up with enough plants to match the census number for a small city.

Your plants are very healthy and all are blooming, you're doing something right.

It is not looking one bit better.....only worse today because I received 2 shipments of plants............still sitting on the floor unpacking!!! (LOL)

Your plants are just beautiful !

Thanks for the show.
