I'm growing Garlic. I'm in New Braunfels. It's doing fine - swell, and it's been at it since Late November. I'm wondering when it's going to be ready to harvest? No sign of it blooming, so I'm beginning to wonder if I didn't raise a bunch of duds - or is it supposed to flower later on.
Garlic in San Antonio Area: When is it ready?
Which kind are you growing? I grow Elephant Garlic, but no matter which kind the garlic is ready to harvest when the tops turn brown and fall over.

Josephine.
Thanks Josephine. It's Silverskin that I'm growing. I understand what the signs are when it's ready; I was just wondering when I could expect this to happen in my area.
I might try elephant garlic next time. I like that type too.
I suppose from the end of June on you could expect it to mature.
Mine is an old garlic from this area. It is just starting to bloom right now.
I'm getting excited. I have half a double row (so 35 feet) of it. Hahaha My friends love it because I always grow 10 times more of everything than I need (I live by myself).
That is great... it will give you enough to eat, some to replant and plenty to share.
