What is on my Trumphet Honeysuckle?

What is on my trumphet honeysuckle? I planted it for my hummingbirds? What should I do?

Ewwwww, is the plant sticky where they are? It looks like aphids if it is. I would take a hose and just spray them off and keep doing it until they are gone. Hopefully that will get rid of them and you won't have to use an insecticide.

Thanks! I think they are aphids but there are soo many of them. My roses only have a few here and there.

Too many to spray with the hose? Do you see any ladybug larvae around?

You can try washing them off with the water hose...if that doesn't work, then get a sprayer and add some laundry detergent to it...then spray the plants down. Make sure you rinse them off with clean water after that.

Am not sure but I think hummies might just pick up the aphids for their young to eat??? The baby hummies eat insects their parents bring...have watched the parent hummies snatch up gnats and fruitflies and zip off to their nests to feed them to their youngins'

Elsewise find some ladybugs or hover fly larva...hover flies love sucking the juice out of aphids!!!

Yeah ..... not fun getting those annoying plant critters. We get so much here in the warmer climate that I feel like it's a never ending battle. Grrrrrrr......

I hope the soapy water spray works for ya! :-)

Thanks I'll try the water spray. I also cut the damaged ends off and threw them away.
